The critics agree: Kick-Ass 2 kicks Kick-Ass‘s ass!
The Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Steven Rea raves: “In the annals of sequeldom, Kick-Ass 2 has to be one of the” best ever.
Nell Minow at BeliefNet gushes: “The Dark Knight … has nothing on” Kick-Ass 2.
David Jenkins of Little White Lies loved the film’s grittiness, explaining: “This isn’t a comic book – this is the real world!”
The AV Club’s A.A. Dowd, meanwhile, appreciated its attention to the original text. He notes that the film was “pulled verbatim from Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass comic-book series.”
Flixist’s Matthew Razak found Kick-Ass 2 to be provocative and deep: “The film’s dark overtones, commentary on violence in media and perturbing escalation of said violence left me coming out of the theater thinking. That’s a pretty big rarity for a film featuring people dressing up in costumes.” We couldn’t have put it better ourselves, Matthew.
