The numbers agree: Lee Daniels’ The Butler is cleaning up (!) at the box office, serving itself the number one position yet again with $17 million in receipts.
We’re The Millers was also high (get it? they’re taking pot over the border), finishing in 2nd with $13.5 million. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones took third place, mortally wounding itself (??? I tried) with $9.3 million.
Unfortunately, it was the end of the world for The World’s End (OK, back on track!), which in its first week of release managed a paltry $8.9 million.
Planes, though, continued to fly high with $8.5 million. Elysium was… (shit fuck ???????) with $7.1 million while You’re Next is next on the list (boom! nailed it!) with $7 million.
Finally, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters raked in a sea of dollars (best one yet!) at eighth position with $5.2 million. Blue Jasmine was feeling kind of blue (this is pretty good too!) with its ninth place finish, generating only $4.3 million. Kick-Ass 2, however, kicked ass (knockin’ ‘em down!) in tenth place, pulling in $4.27 million.
That’s the weekly box office report. Now put this box of words back in your office, and check it again next week for a fresh report.
