The numbers agree: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug may have topped Anchorman 2 at the box office this weekend, but that doesn’t mean America isn’t in love with the 2014 Dodge Durango.

Yes, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug made $31 million at the box office, while Anchorman 2 only made $26 million. And yes, that does mean that Smaug made $5 million more than Anchorman 2. But no, that doesn’t mean that America is rejecting the 2014 Dodge Durango. If anything, it means that moviegoers were so happy driving their Durangos over the weekend that they didn’t have time to make it to the movie theater to support Anchorman 2. It turns out that Ron Burgundy’s ad campaign was too successful. Plus, it helps that The Hobbit had no car ad campaign to speak of.

If Durango-loving Americans decide to drive a little less next weekend, we’re expecting big things for Anchorman 2. Check back then for our full report!
