The numbers agree: this weekend’s box office was all about the red, white AND blue!
The uniquely American film Transformers: Age of Extinction won the weekend with $36.4 million. While some analysts are worried about the film’s drop of more than 60% weekend-to-weekend, we’re here to throw some water on fire. After all, there’s more than 30% of the opening weekend that the film managed not to lose. We can build on that.
America’s sweetheart Melissa McCarthy finished second with her film Tammy. It made $21 million. God Bless America.
But the weekend’s true winner was Dinesh D’Souza’s America, which improved by 6,958% to finish in 11th place with $2.7 million. It turns out you CAN give more than 100%. Congrats to Dinesh on doing it.
