Warner Eschewing Comedy in Superhero Films

Comedy Central's show "The Nick Swardson Sketch Show"...

The Critics Agree has learned exclusively via Badass Digest that Warner Bros. has a “no jokes allowed” policy for their forthcoming DC comic book adaptations.

We’re relieved, to be honest. Having just seen Guardians of the Galaxy, we were made a bit uncomfortable by all of the laughs. Was it funny? Yeah, definitely. We each nearly peed ourselves. But all of that laughter never gave us time to think about how gritty and cool the movie should be. Furthermore, we left with no sense of the toys we wanted to buy, as the movie was so interesting and humorous that we couldn’t dwell on it.

Ultimately, moviegoers will come to love this new Warner Bros. policy. It puts the focus back where it belongs: not on our entertainment, but on the superheroes themselves. These are important, fictional people. They deserve our undivided attention, even if they’re boring us to death.
